The Cranberry Café will be open with a limited menu of cranberry baked goods, drinks, soup and cranberry pesto pizza. Enjoy complimentary sampling of cranberry wine and sampling of over 25 farm-made cranberry products from heirloom cranberry salsa to cranberry streusel cake to cranberry tapenade. Choose a self-guided tour or a guided tour at 11:00 am, 11:30 am, 4:00 pm or 4:30 pm including harvest, cleaning and sorting, and packaging demos.

Experience a five course locavore dinner with optional local wine pairing. The menu may change daily based on the availability of seasonal local ingredients. Everything is made from scratch and is simply prepared, with a focus on timing, restraint and the wines and ciders of the area.
   On Sat., Sept. 17th at 6:30 pm join special guest Canadian wine expert John Schreiner for an evening of five courses of fine Valley ingredients with paired Cowichan wines and insightful explanation.

   On Sat., Sept. 17th, a five course Winemaker’s Dinner hosted by Deerholme Farm and renowned Chef Bill Jones featuring Averill Creek wines and Cowichan foods with Spanish flavours. Tickets: $125.

The property on which Providence Farm sits today was settled in 1864 by the Sisters of St. Ann. For 100 years, a school operated on the property and today, it is home to Providence Farm, a charitable organization that uses horticultural therapy to help adults in the Cowichan Valley with mental health issues, brain injuries and development challenges. Providence Farm invites visitors to come visit on Saturday, September 17th and Sunday, September 18th.
   On Saturday, visitors are invited to self-tour themselves or join Farm founder, Jack Hutton, for a guided tour at 1:00 pm. The Farm’s nursery is also open on Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
   On Sunday the Farm, in partnership with the Cowichan Green Community is hosting “Share the Harvest: A Family Celebration of Local Food and Fun”. A pancake breakfast will kick Sunday off at 9:00 am and family activities will carry on throughout the day until 4:00 pm. Thursday, September 15th and Friday, September 16th are working days at the Farm, but the public is welcome to self-tour.

   On Sat., Sept. 17th and Sun., Sept. 18th at 12:00 pm, 1:30 pm 3:00 pm Cooking Demos with The Fabulous Duo of Mark (Winemaker) and Brian (Stonefield Farms) will entertain you with some great ideas. Samples will be given for the front rows. Stonefield Farm will be onsite with cooking demo ingredients. Walk in amongst the grapes for “Vendors in the Vineyard” to see regional offerings or go on a Winemaker tour see the equipment and stump the Winemaker for a free keychain.
   On Sun., Sept. 17th savour items from Farm's Gate Food & Catering and on Sun., Sept. 18th meet Winefeast 2011 author Troy Townsin for a book signing.

On Thurs., Sept. 15th, at 4:30 pm an exclusive event with a Riedel Glass Tasting of Alderlea Vineyards’ wines at the Masthead Restaurant. All guests will take home a complimentary set of four Riedel Crystal Tasting Glasses. Guests will then stroll to the Arthur Vickers Gallery for a reception with hors d’oeurvres, bubbly and intimate conversation with the artist. The evening will conclude with a four course Taste of Cowichan dinner by Chef Martin Harrison with local wine pairing. Tickets: $225.

During the festival Merridale Cider is offering Cider Tastings by donation, self-guided tours cellar and orchard tours, free deli & bakery samples and lunch in the Bistro (reservations recommended). Free events: “Art in Progress” - 12-3 pm Sat., Sept. 17th & Sun, Sept. 18th - a collective gathering of local artists in the apple orchard, and a true feast for the eyes as you watch artwork in progress-Chantey Deal, Susan Witham, Dave Airs, Carol Anne Shaw, Devon Gillett, Andrew Kent, Elizabeth Wellborn, and Pipi Tustian, our resident artist.
